“Ashes of a Bridge”
by Branden Parker

go ahead, the same ‘till the end
who is gonna tell you my friend
on deaf ears, these words, they’ll fall
no one was home when you got the call

in time, it will be too late
freedom, the right to choose your own fate
slow down, this is no race
someone already took home first place

a blind eye to the way things are
in your own mind you come real, real far
frozen, stuck in one place
for improvement there is plenty of space

day to night, a dollar spent, a blank stare, a message sent
someone said, wasted time, a passed up chance, there’s no crime

go ahead, sit around and wait
surprised when satisfaction shows up late?
worry not,  keep up the routine
your hair will be gray before you know what I mean

blame who? The fault is whose?
I guess some people were born to lose
realize, things don’t change
they just seem different out of range

hours gone, why do I try?
helping other people never got me by
my words, dissipate into the air
and you sit and tell me that life ain’t fair
Ashes of a Bridge
